Geoff Beckett grew up on a Welsh farm near the Cheshire and Shropshire borders. Art and maths were the two subjects he pursued at school but the "sensible" option prevailed and he read Mathematics and Statistics at York University. He worked in finance and accounts for a couple of years before a series of commissions and the chance to run a gallery brought him back into the art world. He spent the next few years splitting his time between painting and running a gallery and framing business with his sister near their family home, before dropping out of the business to concentrate on his artwork. Geoff now lives in rural Cheshire and paints from home in a house that often gets overrun by artwork but provides a cosy retreat to paint in. As a self taught artist Geoff loves to play with colours and textures, using carefully planned composition to build the picture. Working on board, the thickest textures are applied first, before using a variety of acrylic paints by brush, pen or straight out of the tube, still building up layers. These unique pieces are professionally photographed and enhanced as digital reproductions ready for you to enjoy framed in a silver-coloured contemporary moulding with mount and glass.
